Congratulations to Katie Parker for her podium at Whistler Cup 2011!
15 Australian athletes represented their country in this year´s Whistler Cup, 8 of them from Mt. Buller Race Club: Katie Parker, Sydney Shearman, Sophie Ash, Veronica Lebedev, Georgia Craig, Jack Craig, Phillip Chen and Ben Tyler.
Special congratulations to Katie Parker, who finished 3rd in the Kinder Kombi race (she was edged out of second place by 1 hundredth of a second). Great Job Katie!
You can view her run on youtube or you can check out the detailed results!
At the slalom race, both Phillip and Jack made the flip (top 30 in run 1). Phillip finished 30th and Jack finished 26th. Great job boys.
On the women’s giant slalom, the K2 girls did well. Sophie, Georgia and Veroncia all made run two and moved up in position from their first run result. (first run: G – 46th, V – 45th, S – 48th. Finish position: G – 38th, V – 39th, S – 42nd). Great results!
Finally, the K1 women showed a strong performance in giant slalom. Katie Parker had a fast time, but missed a gate on the first pitch (there was a massive hold before KT went). 6 other girls made the same mistake, as there was confusion with the dye. Sydney came 28th.

During the slalom event, the K2 girls had tough tracks and tough conditions. Georgia, Sophie and Veronica completed the race, finishing in 36th, 46th and 50th respectively. Great job girls!
For our K1 girls, all four completed the race, which is a task in itself. Sydney finished in 36th. Although KT had the 10th fastest run in both first and second run, she finished just out of the top ten in 11th place. Great effort girls!
Finally, our K1 boys had some very good results in the giant slalom event, and three were in the top thirty. Phillip finished in 30th place, Jack in 26th (interesting note, Jack was bib 29 in all three races and finished 26thin all three races). Louis Muhlen finished just off the podium in 4th place, our best male result of the event. Awesome results boys!

I am sure this weekend was a great experience and we hopefully give the necessary motivation, to put a big effort in the physical preparation for the SH season and even better results will follow.
Congratulations again to all MBRC athletes!
